Biographical Info:

Dr. Omolara Faith Yakubu obtained a B.Tech degree in Biochemistry from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 2007. She later proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 2010 where she was awarded M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry in 2011. She was conferred with the Ph.D degree in Biochemistry at Covenant University in 2018. Dr. Yakubu specialize in Plant Biochemistry and has been actively involved in the sustainable use of indigenous medicinal plants. Her research interest is in the area of Toxicology and Phytochemistry. Her research on medicinal plant involves the purification, isolation and characterization of active compounds from plants; these compounds are in turn screened for anticancer, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Dr. Yakubu is also involved in the safety evaluation of locally used medicinal plants using biochemical, haematological, histopathological indices of toxicity including molecular studies. Dr. Yakubu who is a recipient of the Postgraduate Fellowship Award by the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) in 2016 which was tenable at the State Key laboratory of Phytochemistry and Plant Resources, Kunming Institute of Botany, China, is currently a senior lecturer at the Biochemistry Department in Covenant University and has published in reputable local and international journals.
