RESEARCH EQUIPMENT DATABASE
Society is plagued with diverse problems that threaten human health, the environment, food security, the economy, etc. Finding sustainable answers to these problems require quality research work to be done. However, many researchers are limited due to scarcity of research facilities and equipment especially in the developing climes. Research facilities are often limited and spread thin in developing nations including most African nations.
In an attempt to make available research facilities optimised to support research work, the Nigerian Young Academy has launched the Research Equipment Database (RED) Project.
The Research Equipment Database is an online open access database designed to enhance visibility of available scientific equipment in any given geographical location. This will in turn spur research collaboration and partnership, as well as access to and optimisation of the research facilities available within a given geographical area.
While the first stage in the RED project covers Nigeria, subsequent faces will include other African countries till the entire continent of Africa is satisfactorily covered.
