Biographical Info:

Dr. Olufunso O. Abosede is the Acting Head of Department of Chemistry at Federal University Otuoke. He was previously the Head of Department of Science Education and Coordinator of Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) at the same institution. He holds BSc., MSc., and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
His research expertise lies in Inorganic and Materials Chemistry, with a focus on Coordination Chemistry, Bio-inorganic Chemistry, Green Chemistry, Nanoscience, Crystallography, and Crystallography Education. Dr. Abosede's current research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of new compounds with therapeutic applications.
He has received multiple grants to support his research and scientific engagement, including the TetFund Institution-Based Grant (October 2024), Frank H. Allen International Research and Education (FAIRE) Programme Grant from Cambridge Crystallography Data Centre (CCDC) in October 2024, Engagement Grant Award from CCDC (November 2024), and the 2025 Global Innovation Imperatives (Gii) Grant from the American Chemical Society. Other awards and fellowships won by Dr. Abosede include TWAS-DBT postgraduate fellowship in 2012, Individual Research Grant from International Foundation for Science (Sweden) in 2015, and individual Green Chemistry research grant from UNESCO/IUPAC/PhosAgro partnership in 2018.
He has worked in multicultural societies, including during his TWAS-DBT postgraduate fellowship at Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, and during a postdoctoral fellowship at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. Dr. Abosede is a member of several international scientific organizations and serves as a reviewer for multiple internationally peer-reviewed high-impact chemistry journals.
