Biographical Info:

Dr Isaac Akinwumi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering at Covenant University in Nigeria. He received his PhD and his Master of Engineering degrees in Civil Engineering from Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria and his Bachelor of Engineering degree (First Class) in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. His research focuses on Geotechnical Engineering, construction materials, water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), waste management and climate change. He is proficient in Human-Centered Design and Sustainable Development concepts. He has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has won research grants and fellowships. He is a Commonwealth Scholar, having received the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarship Award in 2015, which ensured he spent a year as a Visiting Postgraduate Researcher at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. He is the Pioneer Technical Chair of the International Conference on Sustainable Infrastructural Development (ICSID 2019 and ICSID 2020). He has supervised postgraduate students and has served as an External Examiner of PhD Students in India and the UK. Isaac is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a Corporate Member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), a Member of the International Association for Engineers (IAENG), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He served as the Financial Secretary of the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) between 2019 and 2021. He is a Fellow of the NYA. Isaac is also an Affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS). He served as the Coordinator of Research at the Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID) and is currently the Director, International Office and Linkages at Covenant University.
