Prof. Franklin Chimaobi Kenechukwu (a Nigerian, born in 1981) received his Ph.D in Pharmaceutics in 2017, from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he serves currently as the Head of the Department and Research Leader. He has served as the Managing Editor of African Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, a Faculty-based journal. He has co-authored more than 150 scientific articles/reviews and book-chapters, and has delivered more than 40 presentations at conferences/workshops/symposia/summits worldwide. His research on transdermal artemether nanogels was recently patented in Australia.
Kenechukwu has received several fellowships/awards/grants/bursaries/scholarships, including the International Foundation for Science (IFS) (Sweden, 2021); MAM-2020 Travel Award (Australia, 2020), AGNES Junior Researcher Grant (Germany, 2019), WCAIR Travel Award (UK, 2019), INCT-FCx Travel Bursary (Brazil, 2019), BMGF Global Health Travel Award (USA, 2018), Best Abstract Award (2018), CNPq-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Award (Brazil, 2017), ACU Early Career Grant (UK, 2017), CLINAM Fellowship (Switzerland, 2017), Vice-Chancellor’s Overall Best PhD Student Postgraduate Prize Awards (2017), PolyChar/UNL Fellowship (USA, 2015), Best Departmental Graduating Student Award (2007), among others.
Kenechukwu won the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund) NRF Grant Award (Nigeria) as the principal investigator. He also has won several research grants as co-investigator at UNN. Prof. Kenechukwu has successfully supervised/mentored several students, has been editor/reviewer for more than twenty international journals and Elsevier books. He belongs to several local/national/international professional associations/bodies and was recently rated as one of the top 500 most influencing researchers by Scholarly Output in Nigeria.
Prof. Kenechukwu is an affiliate of the African Academy of Science (AAS), a highly competitive Mentorship Scheme designed for future African Research Leaders. His academic/research ambitions are to develop nanomedicines for treatment of infections/diseases.
