Biographical Info:

Dr Chukwudi is an experienced Veterinarian, Molecular Biologist and Clinical Pathologist, with a DVM (Distinctions) from the University of Nigeria, and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbial Genetics from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. A former Commonwealth Scholar (PhD studies), Erasmus Mundus Scholar and Commonwealth Fellow (Postdoc), her research interests and skills are in the area of combating infectious diseases, especially via studies in microbial pathogenesis and genetics, molecular pathology and diagnostics, antimicrobial mechanisms of action and resistance, virulence factors, toxin/antitoxin
systems, drug interactions, enhanced therapeutics and drug delivery. She is passionate about uplifting the research profile of diseases peculiar to Africa, many of which have huge prospects for the development of novel intervention strategies. Her career goal is to build a strong and
effective team of researchers that would spearhead molecular research in tropical diseases using modern biotechnology. She also has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring the upcoming generation of scientists and researchers in Africa. She is self-motivated, result-oriented, strategically focused, and meticulous. She believes that it is time for Africans to rise up and solve African problems by themselves, as well as contribute their quota to global issues. She is also a fellow of the African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI Cohort 2; a partnership of the African Academy of Sciences, NIH and Bill and Melinda Gates foundation) at the National Institutes of Health, USA. Her work focuses on the use of molecular tools and biotechnology to enhance diagnostics and therapeutics.
