Biographical Info:
I am Akomolafe Seun Funmilola (PhD). I am from Are-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria. I am happily married to my husband and have three wonderful children. I am currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. I have been lecturing in the Department since 2010, where I’m involved in both teaching and research. My research thus far has produced over fifty articles in well indexed and reputable journals. My formal education started at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ado Ekiti. I also attended Christ Girls’ School, Ado Ekiti after which I gained admission to University of Ado Ekiti, now Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti to study Biochemistry and graduated as the best graduating student in the Department in my Bachelor degree, I obtained a Master degree in Membrane Biochemistry from University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where I was also among the five top in the class, and consequently obtained a PhD degree in Applied Biochemistry from Federal University of Technology, Akure. My current research focused on the use of functional foods and nutraceuticals in managing male infertility and other diseases like erectile dysfunction, obesity, type II diabetes, and hypertension. My future focus is to see how some of these functional foods and nutraceuticals that have positive effects on sperm count can be patented and commercialized in partnership with reputable food industries and use clinically as dietary intervention for male infertility.
