Ezra Gayawan is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Statistics, Federal University of Technology, Akure. His research interests are in spatial statistics and biostatistics with a focus on modeling infectious diseases and maternal and child health issues in developing countries. He has published extensively in this regard in leading national and international journals, and has mentored and graduated 25 masters students from Nigeria, Ghana, and Rwanda, and co-supervised 3 PhD students. He was a Visiting Professor to Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Campinas, Brazil between 2019 and 2020. He is a collaborator to the Malaria Atlas Project based at the Telethon Kids Institute, Perth, Australia. His is an Editor of Scientific African and serves in the editorial board of Spatial Demography, BMC Public Health and Demographic Research. He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Young Academy.
