Biographical Info:

Dr Adejoke Olukemi Akinyele is a Reader in the Department of Forest Production and Products, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr Akinyele graduated from the defunct Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1997. She also successfully completed her M.Sc. Degree programme in Forest Biology and Silviculture after which she proceeded directly for her Ph.D. She finished her Ph.D (Tree Improvement and Silviculture) in 2007 demonstrating her capability for independent research with little assistance. Her interactions with colleagues in the department over the years confirm that she is an extremely capable researcher and communicator. She is creative, morally disciplined, rational thinker and an extremely hard worker. She has supervised over 60 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Adejoke has published widely in several outlets such as books, chapters in books, articles in conference proceedings and peer reviewed journals.

Adejoke was a visiting scientist in the School of Forestry and Conservation, University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. She is also a member of the United States International exchange alumni. She is an alumnus of BioVision through the World life Sciences Forum, Scientific Foundation of Lyon and French Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the Netherlands Fellowship Programme, Wageningen International, The Netherlands. She is a fellow of Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) under the UNEP/UNESCO/BMU fellowship at Technische Universitaet, Dresden, Germany and a Commonwealth fellow under the Commonwealth Academic fellowship in School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography, Bangor University, Wales.

Roles/Contributions:

At the University of Ibadan, Adejoke has served in various capacities such as Sub-Dean Undergraduate (Forestry); and the current Sub Dean (Postgraduate), Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources. She has been a member of International Union of Forest Research Organization (IUFRO) since 2010. She is the Deputy coordinator for IUFRO Division 2, Unit 2.08.00: Hardwood improvement, culture and genetic resources. She is currently the alternate representative for Nigeria in IUFRO International Council.
